If I can muster up the guster...

I will go here and see things and have fun. Kofie One's new show, Vintage Futurism, opens tonight at 01 Gallery downtown.

Robbie Conal

Artist Profile: Robbie Conal from By Osmosis TV on Vimeo.

Dude is just so cool. I, for one, am glad he's shifting his artistic gaze from old, corrupt men to the icons of capitalism/pop culture. The way he depicted the skin of aging politicians (and even Obama!) made me itch. I guess that means I was healing?

I am a slacker.

This point is illustrated time and time again (23 times, to be exact) on this blog:

http://rubypseudochatchat.blogspot.com/2009/02/23-new-york-teenagers-you-ought-to-know.html

This post is about 23 NY teens that are way better at everything than you. I'm depressed/inspired/depressed. Some of their photography:

Also, check this out:

It's a map that relates all the coolest kids you've never heard of to one another. There are bands with names like Duchess of Lightning, The Floor is Lava!, and Elastic Waistband, for christsake. Sigh. Next lifetime, I'm going to be the privileged child of a NY artist.

Did you know...

...that Obama's weekly addresses are not just another part of the Obamagic? Turns out Bush did them, too. A little bird told me so last night. I just had no idea.

Just an FYI.

Heide Hatry

Whoa. Heide Hatry is an artists who makes sculptures out of pig skin, pig eyes and raw meat, among other things. I'm scurred.

See?

(Maybe one day I'll go for a man and not a manchild? Probably not.)

I've said it before...

..but if Matt Furie wants babies, I'll give him triplets.

I just hope he won't eat them.

Remix mix mix

I love youtube.

Thanks, Schnarfy!

Ash sent me this one. She said it reminded her of when she picked me up after I got my wisdom teeth out and I told her I was in the spirit world.

I love when he screams.

I lied.

For real, last one.

Brian Dettmer is a sculptor who uses books, among other things. I wanna say Sherlock Holmes meets Hogwarts. Is that weird? I'd frame this and put it in my library.

Last One for now.

Diem Chau (from Seattle!) makes little sculptures out of Crayolas. I love them.

Jeez. Again.

Peter Callesen is mind-blowing, too. I am so infatuated with paper art. I guess because it's totally accessible. This man's skills are ridiculous.

(Again, thank you kindly AAD)

Jeez.

Sculptor Emil Alzamora is pretty amazing.

(Thanks, Artist a Day!)

I like my models like my steaks...

Um, rare? That was a weird simile. Anyway, these are a couple of my current fav models.

Diandra Forrest, just signed with Elite
and Ms. Masha Tyelna.  Aren't they just amazing?

I Heart Passion Pit

Just another reason to want to move to Brooklyn.

This song has been stuck in my head for weeks. Saville likes it, too.

P.S. If I make Free Poster Boy buttons, will you sport one?

Street Artist/Photographer JR takes Kenya

This shit is amazing. French photographer JR took photos he'd taken of Kenyan women, supersized them, and covered the roofs of a Kenyan village with them. Apparently, JR's recent work has been focused on documenting women from around the world. The second photo is crazy! The bottom half of the faces are on the hill and the eyes are on a train so when it passes, it makes the faces whole. Check it all out yourself at http://28millimetres.com/women/?ke.

Something about a green face...

...and rosy cheeks always turns me on.

Thanks, Kanyezee.
